The Cold Winter.

January is associated with a renewed sense of enthusiasm and reformation, but can i please shyly raise my hand and say that a combination of lack of sunlight, upcoming deadlines and general tiredness is making me feel like a piece of chocolate that has been left by the radiator for far too long. I know, I know, in my last post I spoke about achieving goals and all manner of positivity, but as i’m sad cross legged on a cold wooden floor with “How” by Daughter playing softly in the background, and the laptop illuminated by the tinkling of fairy lights and excessive amounts of candles, I feel noticeably “meh, and I’m not alone, a lot of my fellow peers have expressed their struggles in ‘getting back on it’ since Christmas. It’s a strange feeling because we all know we have a few months left of this degree and we know that we should be giving it our all, but in the same vein, because it’s been six long year (and even more for some others!) and it all feels a bit overwhelming.

But let’s not dwell on the unfavourable, but instead let me share some goodness i’ve seen and read this week. First of all, Jazmine’s post ‘my little corner of the internet’ filled me with absolute joy. I genuinely whispered “Yes” when I read it because it encapsulated a lot of feelings i’ve held about my blog for a while, but wasn’t sure how to relay. It made me feel so much better about my blog knowing that there were other bloggers who had been blogging for a while too, who felt a little disillusioned and not quite sure what to do, but it’s a nice feeling of reassurance. This ‘Be Brave’ enamel pin is on my to buy list at the end of the month, a little gift to myself for always persevering despite wanting to sleep my life away, for the most part, I’m getting out of bed in the mornings, putting on my brave face, and facing the world with a spine of steel. Thirdly, please can we collectively sigh at the most beautiful shoes in the world? These would definitely put a spring in anyone’s step, I used to stay away from colour, but i’m slowly incorporating brights into my wardrobe and this would make a great addition. Fourth is Ijeoma Umebinyuo’s ‘Questions for Ada’ which i’ve shown extensively on my instagram. Ijeoma’s writing feels like home, and that simply put is the only way i can describe it. If you love poetry (especially ones written by woc) then you’ll love it.

Here’s to a better week for us all, may love and light guide your way as always <3 How is january shaping up for you so far?

I understand what you mean, on a smaller scale though. I've been feeling very 'meh' lately as well, I've got exams in about five months and the thought of writing them just drains me sometimes. You're almost there, it'll all be worth it in the end Sade :)cocobellablog.com

January definitely is a demanding month as I also have exams. Right now I've got kind of a 'break' because I got sick and do not write the next exam now… My fingers are crossed for you and I'm wishing you all the strength you need! The last few steps are always the hardest, but you've come so far! No giving up now 🙂

I love your pictures 🙂 I hear you about January…I was just saying to my mom recently that now we're just in the boring dead of winter. At least during the holidays, things are bright and colorful and lit up. Now everything is cold and dead and blah. But I seek solace in a cup of tea or a glass of wine at the end of day!

This part, especially, resonates: "always persevering despite wanting to sleep my life away, for the most part" if that's not my personal life story! And yes, to Jazmine's post!I hope you are feeling much better. Sending you the best vibes, regardless
