Where Breakfast and Drinks Collide.
When you hear “The Alchemist”, the first thing you’ll probably think of are their insanely cool cocktails, but how does Brunch and Cocktails sound to you? I’ve only ever visited the Birmingham branch of The Alchemist for naughty drinks with a few friends whilst I was visiting, but being a newly adopted Liverpool lass, I just had to try the branch here too!
The Brunswick Street branch is set in a beautiful Grade II listed building in the heart of Liverpool’s financial district. The decor is tasteful and warm with a mixture of rustic and metallic hues and if this doesn’t say instagram friendly then I’m not sure what does! (Although i’d like to think I don’t just go to places because of aesthetics, it’s what’s on the inside that counts hehe, or at least what the food and drink is saying…). Despite The Brunswick branch of The Alchemist being situated in the financial district, it’s actually a reasonably priced food and drinks spot, to start I would recommend one of their seasonal specials to drink, we had the ‘White Chocolate, Hot Chocolate Orange’ and the ‘White Chocolate Irish’ which were delicious with a strong kick, and I think the beakers they came in completely sealed the deal for us.
For food, we went for ‘The Full English’ (because you have to judge a place that serves breakfast by it’s full english to be quite honest – Which was pretty good to be honest) and ‘Mish Mosh’ which were scrambled eggs with chorizo, cheese, bacon, spinach and mushrooms served with toast in a teeny pan. One thing I liked about the food is that it was easy to share in terms of how it was served.
Now, a visit to The Alchemist just isn’t complete without a little tipple is it? Brunch calls for light drinks so a ‘Peaches and Cream’ and a ‘Lightbulb Moment’ it was, and strangely enough it was indeed a lightbulb moment for us when we saw the drinks coming. They were light, fresh, and perfect for a lazy weekend brunch with friends.
If you’re looking for somewhere to have breakfast in Liverpool, and of course sneak in a cheeky cocktail, then The Alchemist is your place.
